{"id":88,"date":"2025-09-26T09:18:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T09:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arcaro-aerospace.com\/?p=88"},"modified":"2025-09-26T10:37:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T10:37:25","slug":"seat-design-and-structural-analysis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arcaro-aerospace.com\/?p=88","title":{"rendered":"Seat Design and Structural Analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seat Design and Structural Analysis.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, a team of Warsaw University of Technology students, during an internship at Arcaro Aerospace, developed a comprehensive <strong>passenger economy-class seat design<\/strong> along with a <strong>structural stress analysis<\/strong> in line with aviation standards. \ud83d\udcc4<br>Source: <em>Design and stress analysis of passenger aircraft seats<\/em> \u2014 Warsaw University of Technology repository (<a href=\"https:\/\/repo.pw.edu.pl\/info\/bachelor\/WUT8fdb6effef3b4d5ba990f43d751caeff\/\">repo.pw.edu.pl<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scope and Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Static and dynamic simulations were conducted in accordance with aviation certification requirements, including accelerations of <strong>14 g<\/strong> along the spine axis (vertical) and <strong>16 g<\/strong> with a lateral component (longitudinal aircraft axis).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finite Element Method (FEM) was used with <strong>Patran<\/strong> software and the <strong>Nastran<\/strong> solver to simulate stresses and deformations in the seat structure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two models were created:<br>\u2002 \u2022 Solid model \u2013 tetrahedral mesh (TET10)<br>\u2002 \u2022 Shell model \u2013 quadrilateral mesh (QUAD4)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The comparison showed that the shell model provided accuracy similar to the solid model while being more computationally efficient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additionally, natural vibration frequencies and <strong>buckling scenarios<\/strong> of the seat were analyzed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Based on stress maps and results, <strong>design modifications<\/strong> were proposed for areas at risk of exceeding the plasticity limit of aluminum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusions and Next Steps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>While the static FEM analysis provided a solid foundation, it does not fully meet the certification requirements.
